Women Football: CAF Postpones AWCON 2022 Qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the postponement of Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers like they did to men’s.

According to first communication made during the draws held last week in Cairo Egypt, the Qualifiers were meant to kick off between 7-15th June 2021.

CAF Organizing Committee of Women Football decided to postpone the qualifiers of the women Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022 In line with the postponement of the Men World Cup Qualifiers.” The letter sent to Members Associations by CAF read in parts.

The reasons for the postponements were based on the actual conditions of certain stadiums in Africa and the restrictions related to COVID19.” The letter continues 

The first round of the Qualifiers will now take place during FIFA windows of 18-26 October 2021, while the second round will take place from 14-23 February 2022.

By the time the communication came in, Uganda Crested Cranes team wasn’t yet been summoned.

In the first round Uganda is to host Ethiopia first before the return leg in Addis Ababa.
