Lectures as Uganda joins the World in International Museum Day Celebrations

As Uganda keep on pushing harder towards tourism promotion, On Tuesday 18th 2021, the Pearl of Africa joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Museum Day.
The 44th International Museum Day in Uganda climaxed today at Uganda Museum in Kamwokya-Kampala.
The 2021 theme “The future of museum:Recover and Re-imagibe“
The event that attracted a number of people from different locations learnt a lot about the history of the country and how to protect the antiquities.
The Guest of Honor, Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and antiquities, Tom Butime educated the population about the importance of the museum.
“A country without a Museum is not a civilize nation, Uganda being a Member of ICOM. it’s a remarkable achievement for this nation and museum fraternity.”
“Vintage are useful, they give us direction, because when we look to where we came from, we can easily find a way to move forward.” Said Minister.
The minister also applauded Johnson Mbabazi who dedicated his Achiever Research Award to the Museum.
“Museum are an Important means of Cultural exchange, enrichment of culture and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and Peace among people” The President of International Council of Museum, Samuel Kizaalwa.
The application of Virtual Museum that can be accessed by the audience from wherever they may be is the way. Public should reach the Museum and get what is available any time from anywhere, this will minimize a break in visitorship during unavoidable circumstances like pandemics, Museum should become more innovative by making freguent out reaches rather than waiting for visitors to come to them” He added.
Emmanuel Ssemwanga who have been collecting vintage for over ten years tells his story; “Collecting this old staffs is not easy, though some count them as rubbish but those who decide to keep them, they don’t accept to sell them to us, they a very important because they help us to improve on those we have in current days. Also they show us how our grands used to live.”
Allan Mwesiga a resident of Mityana who has visited the museum on several occasions he explained that; “These things in museum are very important to show us our Heritage, and they are great contributors of our national income, for example there is a lot of people who come here just to see the photos of Idi Amin. imagine if we had his grave here, how many people would have visited the place.“
Nesta a resident of Kazo was deep in surprises with the staff he found in the Museum.
“I have seen things I have never imagined, Like the traditional ambulance, I only knew these car ambulance but they had there ambulances, there technology show us that we don’t have new things but we just have replica of the grands, many things here the vintage car and they are very beautiful and they where not expensive as these days“
