UMEA Solidarity Games: Netball Defending Champions, Ngando SS Proves Too Strong in Group of Death, Aims to Retain the Title

UMEA Solidarity Games, Netball Defending champions Ngando SS proved too strong in group of death that ended on Saturday at Kawanda SS.
The netball schools powerhouse were pitted in group A with Greenlight SS, Kawempe Muslim, Gombe SS, Kakungulu High, Kakungulu Memorial and Wamatovu.
The two times previous champions reached quarterfinals after five straight wins with the latest win coming against Greenlight SS by 29-24.
Earlier in the morning Ngando SS defeated Kawempe Muslim 27-17 adding to three wins recorded yesterday Joyous Ngando SS coach Eppa Richard appeared optimistic over defending UMEA Netball cup.
“We have been in the toughest group but praise be to Allah who guided us to win over Greenlight, it is much important for us as a team, we got 5 wins in 5 games thanks to our Director Alhaj Najib Kivumbi who has been a strong pillar in our preparations, he has put in everything possible to see that we are totally prepared” says the Coach.
In group A Greenlight managed to come second to Ngando SS while in group B Kibuli SS and Kadugala made it to quarter finals as Madina Islamic and Kawanda A reach the knockout stage through group C only Group D still with a slot to join Kawanda B to complete Quarter finals.
Group D has Kawanda SS B as leader, Masaka SS, Kinaawa SS, Kabimbiri Hamdan and Amity.
