UMEA Solidarity Games: Debutants Hamdan Excited to Reach Netball Quarters

Newbies, Hamdan Islamic Secondary School head coach, Rajab Ssemakula failed to hide his excitement after his school made it to Quarterfinals in their maiden attempt in the UMEA Solidarity Games.

The Nakifuma based side, Hamdan Islamic Secondary School was pitted in the same ground with the hosts, Kawanda SS, Masaka SS, Kinaawa Mugongo, Amit and Central College Kabimbiri but thy only lost to the hosts and made it to quarters where they will be playing against defending Champions, Ngando SS.

“We are happy and we believe, we are on right track, we have achieved what we didn’t expect, we have never expected that we shall make it out of the group stage because this is our first time to feature in UMEA games.” Coach Rajab Ssemakula 

“We have been in academics for five years, but after making it stable in that field, we decided to join sports, we have started with national Qualifiers and we made it to regional level.

We are also blessed to be that we are going to play Ngando, a big team a d the defending Champions of this tournament, so it our pleasure to play such a big team.” He added.

Hamdan head coach revealed that the school’s director Hajji Yasin has been supportive towards the game of Netball in the school.
