Ug Decides2021: How Kayunga Elects Her Leaders At Top Level
So far we are done with elections at presidential, parliamentary and local government levels, few positions are remaining to be filled.
Kayunga district is among the 146 districts that decided who to lead them in the next five years of governance.
A lot of changes were made, many voted for change, few incumbents survived this strong wave of change that swept of 20 Ministers.
Kayunga district send four Members of Parliament, the three come from the constituencies and a woman MP representing the whole district.
It’s Bbaale Constituency that had many contestants for that seat, over ten but NUP’s Tebandeke Charles came out as the winner and the Incumbent of NRM Kumama George Nsamba, Ntenjeru North remained with Amos Lugoloobi while Ntenjeru South replaced NRM’s Hon. Baseke Fred with independent, Patrick Nsanja. While Incumbent and Independent Nantaba Aidah reclaimed her seat as the member of parliament representing women of Kayunga in Parliament for the third term.
Nantaba beat her close competitor, Nakwedde Harriet of NUP after a controversial vote tallying.
At the local government level, the elections are still on until 03rd February 2021.
However, we already have those who were elected at district level. No big difference on how the Kayunga electorates decided at Parliamentary and Presidential level. They at many positions voted for National Unity platform.
Ffeffeka Sserubogo Muhammad of NUP elected the next LC 5 chairperson of the district replacing NRM’s Sserwanga William Tom who even didn’t make it out of the NRM primaries.
The nine counties that make up Kayunga district sent direct councillors, male and female but many of them are of NUP.
Bbaale County sent Musisi Charles Musomesa and Nakate Lydia – all Independent Bbaale
