Stanbic Uganda Cup R64: Narrow Escape for Vipers , Only Spot kicks Save Brazilian Coached Side

The 2021 champions and last season’s Runner-up Vipers Sports Club survived a late scare as Kitara Region side Bujumbura United FC nearly dumped them out of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup in the Round of 64 honored on Tuesday afternoon.
The game ended 0-0 but the hosts got arguably the best chance of the game at the death mark but could not convert it from close with the visitors’ goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora completely beaten.
This has been the first competitive match for Vipers when their new tactician Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pellister is in charge.
After a goalless draw in normal time at Kibajwa in Hoima, the game went into post-match penalties which the Kitende-based outfit won 4-1.
Bright Anukani, Disan Galiwango, Ahmed Desire Tety, and Ashraf Mandela scored the four penalties for the Venoms.
In the other game played on the same day, FUFA Big League side Jinja North United FC also needed penalties to eject Eastern Region side Busei FC 6-5 following a 3-3 draw in normal time at Ssaza Grounds in Iganga.
Vipers and Jinja North join BUL FC, Kitara FC, Ndejje University FC, Admin FC, Junior Eagles FC, Pajule Lions FC, and Blue Stars FC in the Round of 32.
Action in the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup continues tomorrow Wednesday with two fixtures; SC Villa will visit Kireka United FC while Police FC will be away to Apuutun FC.
