Netball: Joan Nampungu, the Best in March, Fortebet Real Stars Awards Her

Basing on her best performance in just concluded Tri-Nation test series held in Cape Town, South Africa, Joan Nampungu, the National Netball team, She Cranes solider defender beat the rest to win the gong of the best player of month of March by Fortebet Real Stars.

The National Insurance Corporation Netball club defender, displayed an amazing performance in almost all the trials Uganda had in South Africa, even against the Spar Proteas of South Africa, she won the best player of the game though Uganda fell short against the hosts.

Nampungu beat her teammates, Shaffie Nalwanjja who is also defender for Cranes and KCCA Netball club and Irene Eyaru the goal attacker.

Nampungu is saying that, to win this Accolades, it’s all about team work and hardwork made her and the team to perform better in South Africa.

“I thank you especially the media for following us, because if it wasn’t you none would appreciate our work, we performed well because of teamwork and hard work. So I thank my team as well as the organizers of these awards for recognizing us.” Nampungu said immediately after receiving her Accolade with prize money on Tuesday at Route256 Lugogo.

The other day’s winners from other categories is Hippos Fullback Maxwell Ebonga, he had five trys and six conversion for Hippos, in three games and Hippos are fourth with 11 points in 3 games, this helped the latter to beat his competitors, he won the award for the month of March for the best Rugby player and he noted that hard work and determination

Irene Nakalembe shot a closing round three-under-par 68 to grab her 7th consecutive Entebbe Ladies Open title after returning a total of 147 gross at Entebbe Club March 6, she beat Martha Babirye and Joseph Cywinya-ai

Striker Derrick Kakooza who was the top scorer in the just concluded 2020 AFCON U20 finals held Mauritiana beat KCCA FC’s forward, Sadat Anaku and URA’s Steven Desse Mukwala.

“One of my best moment is to be a too scorer in a tournament of such a level, I appreciate that I also won this Accolade, I dream big and I want to win a ballandor in five years from now.” Kakooza Derrick.
