Masaza Cup2021: Buvuma Go Into Early Preparations, Vows To Use Islanders
Buvuma:It is not yet confirmed when the 17th edition of the most prestigious football tournament in Uganda Buganda Masaza Cup will be held but Buvuma already entered into serious preparations.
The Islanders in the past years have been a weaker side in every edition but this time round, they want to fight tooth and nail to see that they make it out of any group they will be pitted.
According to new team manager, Isma Matovu Togwamusuubi, Buvuma going to use mostly the home based players because they imported ones failed to reach them to Glory.
“In the past we have been using imported players but they have been not delivering, we were faring poorly so I came with idea and the executive bought it, that is to use our own based players.” Team Manager, Isma Matovu Togwamusuubi told this website exclusively.
To hit their target, Buvuma Sazza held a three day tournament at Kasali ground, and it attracted eight teams.
It was played between 16th and 18th April 2021 and the aim for the tournament was to select the best talent that will fight for slots on final Buvuma team.
The technical team with the help of Hamidu Kasozi (technical adviser) selected 40 players who will start training on 1st May ahead of SubCounties tours, Manager elaborates here; “We had a three days tournament, purposely to choose the best from it, and we got 40 players who will start training in May. They will later have friendly matches with these sub counties, by doing that we shall continue screening until we get the final team.”
Manager Matovu is saying that their 2021 target is to at least finish at semifinal level, and he asked the Buvuma Islanders to support their team in all aspects because this time round they are to use their own bleed.
“Buvuma people have been yearning for this, they have been wanting to see their own representing the County, so we are asking them to give the team all support.” Said Confident Matovu Togwamusuubi.
The selected players will start training on Saturday 1st May 2021 at Lwajje playground as they are getting ready for your dubbed “Buvuma Namutima”
