Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Awards: Prisons’ Namulumba ‘Remands’ December, Shines Beyond the Rest
Uganda Prisons Netball Club sharp shooter, Namulumba Christine Kango voted the best performer for the month of December as per the Real Stars Sports Agency monthly awards.
To win her maiden Fortebet Real Stars Sports Award, Namulumba beats Weyonje Netball Club’s defender Faridah Kadondi and Police Netball Club’s goal attacker, Barbra Namukaaya.
To beat the two in the month of December, Namulumba Christine Kango maintained her scoring spell and she netted 177 goals in the four games she played in the month of December.
Her side Prisons Netball Club won two of them and lost two but again according to the organizers, Namulumba was also outstanding in the two games they lost against KCCA and NIC Netball Club.
Speaking to this website after winning her accolade she received on Tuesday at the awards ceremony held at Route256 Restaurant Lugogo, the Uganda Netball super league top scorer (430 goals) Namulumba expressed her excitement towards the organizers and promised that she will continue performing because her main target this season is to be the league’s top scorer.
“I am very happy that am on this podium today, it was God’s WILL for me to be here, I thank the organizers [Real stars] for this award, it has really motivated me, and I am going to work hard to see that even next month I come back here.” Says Namulumba.
“Yes I will continue with my set targets, the main goal I set before this season was to be a top scorer, the league is still on, I will keep pushing to the last minute until I achieve it and even to win the title with Prisons because we’re still having chance to win it.” She added.
Currently, Prions sit third on the log, four points behind the table leaders, KCCA Netball Club.
This is the second season for the lanky shooter, to whom they expect to be Peace Proscovia’s replacement at the national team if the Surrey Storm’s star retires from National duties.
This is the second consecutive time, Netball players are winning Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards, the month of November was taken by KCCA defender, Sandra Nambirige.
