UPDF Engineers Brigade is Ready for Any Construction Work, Says Maj. Gen.Masiko

In the year 2021 president Museveni made a directive to UPDF top officers to ensure that Uganda Defence Force engage in construction sector since they have man power and technical knowledge which is enough to help the country.
Museveni also directed the government Agencies, Institutions and ministries to hand construction contracts to UPDF Engineering Brigade to save government money and time and indeed UPDF is carrying out a number of projects.
Major General Henry Masiko chief of political commissar in the ministry of defence came up with a committee to enforce presidential directives and over 127 projects across the country are being given to UPDF ENGENEERS BRIDGE.
In this regard UPDF engineers are to put three pillars during constructions including cost cut , Time management and quality work.
This means that companies in Uganda which have a attendence of delaying construction works for the purpose of bribing money and make losses to the government and clients in the country have been reduced.
Among the projects that are now under UPDF include; Medical Stores Kajjansi, Entebbe International Airport Terminal, Mandela National stadium, Kololo SSS and so many other projects in the country.
Major General Henry Masiko after the inspection of two projects, that’s; Entebbe International Airport Terminal and Medical Stores in Kajjansi told this website that; ” It is our first time as UPDF engineers brigade undertaking major infrastructural development of the government, of course we have been doing our internal works for our administration and at times for the community. But this is the first time we’re taking on big infrastructure.”
“So we’re all here today to inspect the ongoing work and to make sure that the work is neat and it’s at the level of our Commander in Chief expectations.” Major General Masiko revealed.
Our Commander in Chief wants the government infrastructures done, first of all by government itself, be in a better institution like UPDF. if you want to do things by yourself, but also remember UPDF is to participate in the development of the country by being productive. So the engineers part have the capacity and the capability to execute that mandate.”
In this regard UPDF committee which consist of 10 people in charge of monitoring of the these projects are working tirelessly until they reach to the expectations of the president of Uganda.
