Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Jejje Odongo saying that the instabilities in the country currently are fueled by the external factors.
With sure narrative from Top officials in government and National Resistance Movement has been circulating around even before the 2021 general Elections, many of them have been pinning National Unity Platform principal as being funded by foreigners.
Yesterday, Uganda Police released a communication to public citing that opposition parties supporters are planning a countrywide protests, however, as of today none happened.
While hosted on NBS Television on Morning Breeze, a weekly morning show at Naguru based TV, Minister Jeje said that the government has evidence of external agencies attempting to bring instability in the country.
“There are plans. They are masterminded by internal groups here assisted by external groups. We are aware of these plans.” Odongo
“They are trying to destabilize the country intending to fail President Museveni’s swearing in and we know external agencies are helping them but the good news is that we are aware so we can handle.“
Odongo went ahead to say that they know the intentions of the National Unity platform but they will not succeed because the government can handle them.
“There is no secret in the intentions of NUP. They are still bent on trying to destabilise with an intention that President Museveni, who won the election, doesn’t swear in.
Last month the members of Parliament including the Speaker Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga asked Internal Minister to present the list of people they have in their custody who were arrested and abducted in connection with the just concluded General Elections.
Last week the General produced a list of 177 names that is smaller to that of President Museveni (330) said that government knows their whereabouts. When asked about that, Odongo said that he is still compiling the names to come up with a full list.
Odongo also said that no one was being held in Safe Houses or CMI dungeon.
“No one is being held in a safe house or CMI dungeon. I wish I could meet and talk to those people saying they had been tortured in safe houses. I don’t have that experience or knowledge.”
It should be remembered that NUP released a list of missing persons exceeding 2000
