To Earn Respect in Society, Women Must Work- Mityana Nursing & Midwifery School Head
Since early 20th century, the world has been commemorating international Women’s Day annually every March 08th in celebrating the achievements of female gender in culture and socioeconomic.
Uganda like other countries, yesterday had celebrated the women’s day and the official celebrations were held in State House Entebbe.
This website decided to seek for a woman who added and still adding a brick on health sector, Doctor Florence Nakyewa Bukenya, head of Mityana Nursing and Midwifery.
Nakyewa we found in Bunamwaya Wakiso District yesterday, she said that any woman to command respect in society especially in this modern era must be in a working class or having something valuable she adds.
“This celebration is very important to us as women, but at this moment as we are celebrating our day, we still have to ask ourselves, what have we done to come up as women of value in society and our families.” Florence Nakyewa to women.
“So I encourage women to work, at least get something that can earn you a coin, you can only command respect in a family and community.” She added.

Even in this 21st century era, a number men don’t want their women to work, but Nakyewa is saying that it’s analog thinking and mindset.
“Men who stop women from working , that is a backward thinking, you need to work together see that you develop together, because there is things we can do and man cant. So if both of you are working, then that can lead to develop and it reduces domestic violence.“
Nakyewa and her other development partners, initiated an idea of setting up a Nursing school in Mityana in 2015, but currently they have a total of students of more than 600.
