COVID-19: UCAA Continues To Tighten Restrictions At Entebbe Airport, Only Two Allowed To Pick/Drop Passengers

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, the authority in charge of air transport in Uganda has tighten restrictions against arrivals and departures of passengers at Entebbe International Airport due to increased unnecessary crowding at the premises.

According to letter reached on our news desk, dated 18th December 2020, UCAA set a restricted number of people who shall be allowed to enter Airport premises to drop departing passengers and pick those arriving at the Airport.

Only two people including the car driver will be allowed to enter the Airport, UCAA revealed that there is unnecessary growing number of people at the Airport and yet it is against the SOPs of Ministry of Health on COVID-19 pandemic.

“With effect from Saturday 19,2020 (today), departing and arriving passengers will only be dropped or picked from the airport by at most two people including the driver of the car in order to avoid unnecessary crowding at the Airport.” The letter reads in parts.

The other SOPs and guidelines at the Airport remain constant, like the passengers, those arriving and departing to present Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) certificates issued 120 hours from time of sample collection.

As of yesterday 18th December 2020,  Uganda has registered over 30000 cumulative confirmed cases (30071 cases to be specific), 230 deaths and 10,251 recoveries.
