USSSA Ball Games II Draws: Netball Schools Learn Opponents

The draws for the 2023 USSSA Ball Games II edition were held on Thursday afternoon at the  association headquarters at GNS Plaza in Old Kampala.

The event was witnessed by numerous stakeholders, including Hajji Twahil Kitezaala, the vice president of the association, and the esteemed president Emeritus Patrick Okanya. Representatives from various schools and sports commissars were also present to witness the exciting moment.

The draws were conducted with great anticipation, determining the groups for the different disciplines that will be showcased during the games. These include Netball, Handball, Football (U-14 & U-16), Basketball (3X3), Rugby 7’s, Woodball, and Lacrosse. The draws were executed meticulously to ensure fairness and balance among the participating schools.

“We have held successful draws for the 2023 USSSA Ball Games 2. The schools are eager to have the action kick off at St Mary’s Rushoroza in Kabale,” expressed Kitezaala, highlighting the enthusiasm among the participating schools.

To ensure a competitive atmosphere, the schools have been assigned to different groups within each sport. In most cases, the groups will compete against each other, with the successful teams advancing to the knockout rounds. However, sports such as Basketball (3×3) and Lacrosse will follow a round-robin format, allowing each school to face all opponents in their respective groups.

The 2023 USSSA Ball Games II are scheduled to take place from July 9th to July 18th, 2023, providing an exhilarating ten days of intense sporting action and showcasing the remarkable talents of the young athletes.

Netball in particular, schools learnt their opponents and the Wakiso District former champions , St Noa Girls School Zana placed in group H with  Kawempe Muslim, Mandela College, Busiika SS, Sironko Parents, Great Aubrey Memorial and Kajjansi Compressive.

The title contenders, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende (champions Wakiso District) and Buddo SS we’re pitted in group A and E respectively.

The draws saw 60 teams pitted in eight groups of eight and seven teams respectively. The four top finishers will represent Uganda in FEASSSA games to be held in Rwanda this year.
