UPL: Mbarara City’s Winless Streak Continues

Mbarara City’s winless streak continued as they played to a goalless draw against Busoga United at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday.

In a match with limited scoring opportunities, Mbarara City’s goalkeeper, Ronald Mutebi, stood out with impressive saves.

Mutebi denied Simon Ngore’s volley and skillfully tipped Ronald Kasamba’s header over the bar following a well delivered cross from Charles Mulanda.

Busoga United came close to scoring again when Fredrick Ngalo had an opportunity inside the penalty area but couldn’t find the target.

Mbarara City had the best chance of the game when Henry Kitegenyi broke through Busoga’s defense, but his attempted loop went over the crossbar with only the keeper to beat.

The Ankole Lions also had a promising free-kick opportunity, but Hussein Mwanje’s shot was blocked by the wall.

The draw came at a cost for Busoga United, as their goalkeeper, Michael Lutaaya, had to be stretchered off after a collision with Mbarara captain Joseph Akandwanaho.

Busoga’s Coach Vincent Lukyamuzi’s team now has four points, while Mbarara City, with three, continues their winless streak after four games.

In the next game, Busoga United will visit Gaddafi FC on October 24, while Mbarara City will host Arua Hill the following day.
