SUPL: Mucureezi Lone strike hands Kitara Victory against Struggling Red Eagles
On Tuesday evening, Kitara returned to winning ways after controversial defeat on road against Vipers SC at Kitende.
The Royals piled more miseries to staggering Express FC following a 1-0 win in Masindi.
Thanks to Paul Mucureezi lone strike that came in the 38th minute of the game.
Express FC nearly took the lead in the 10th minute, when midfielder Emmanuel Wasswa’s shot inside the box hit the woodwork.
In the 38th minute, Paul Mucureezi scored to put the hosts in the lead. Kitara started a quick free kick and Kabon Living made a run, cut inside and sent a beautiful cross inside the box which found Mucureezi who brilliantly headed home.
In the second half, Musongola’s side looked better, dominated the game and had many chances to equalize and maybe get the winning goal but Kitara’s goalkeeper Yawe and his defenders made great saves and clearances respectively.
Living Kabon had two chances to double and also extend the lead for the hosts but he wasn’t clinical enough to bury the opponents.
This was Kitara’s back to back home win and of the same score line. In their previous home game, the Royals edged NEC FC 1-0 thanks to Jude Ssemugabi’s first half stunning goal.
The Red Eagles are now winless in the last 7 league games and the new coach Musongola lost his second game in charge.
For the Ssenyondo’s team, have now moved to third position with 22 points, only one point behind reigning champions Vipers SC who are second on the table.
In the next game, Kitara FC will visit Mbarara City on 20th December while the following day, Express FC will visit NEC FC.
The Startimes Uganda Premier League continues tomorrow with two games as SC Villa hosts Gaddafi FC in Wankulukuku while defending champions Vipers SC will be visiting stubborn Maroons FC in Luzira.
