SUPL: Mbarara Doesn’t Mind about KCCA’s Problems, NEC Stun URA as Busoga Holds Maroons
The match day ten of Startimes Uganda Premier League continued on Tuesday 6th December, with three games as Mbarara City, NEC FC register big victories over KCCA FC and URA FC respectively, Maroons and Busoga United played to a 1-all draw.
Mbarara City continued with the home unbeaten run against KCCA FC as they came from behind to complete 2-1 comeback at Kakyeka.
Sadat Nsubuga and Henry Kitegenyi goals helped Mbarara City secure their second win of the season. Ashraf Mugume scored the only goal for Kasasiro Boys.
Fresh from beating Gaddafi 6-1 in the previous game, Ashraf Mugume scored a beautiful free kick in 33rd minute to put Mubiru’s charges in the lead and on course of winning back to back games.
The lead only lasted for two minutes as Sadat Nsubuga equalized. Goalkeeper Hakim Nsamba played a long ball which found Kitegenyi who headed to set for Nsubuga and curled the ball past the goalkeeper Emojong to level the matters before the break.
Into the second half, Mbarara City doubled the lead as Kitegenyi capitalized on defensive lapses, bundling the ball in to secure their lead in the 62nd minute.
In the 70th minute, Mbarara City head coach Wasswa Bbosa was showed a red card leaving his assistant Byekwaso Zaidi to handle the last 20 minutes of the game which he did as Mbarara City grabbed all three points.
This was the second loss for Abdallah Mubiru in three games he has coached the Kasasiro Boys, while it was the seventh loss in 10 games for KCCA FC this season.
In the next game, Mbarara City will visit UPDF in Bombo on December 11 while KCCA host Bright Stars at Lugogo the following day.
At FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, Maroons came from behind to share spoils with Busoga United in a 1-all draw.
Abraham Kakensa Tusubira cancelled out Basham Mugwa’s early goal as two sides played to a 1-all draw.
Bashamu Mugwa netted the opener to put Busoga in the early lead before Abraham Kakensa Tusubira equalized immediately at the start of the second half in a goal that secured a point for Maroons FC on the road.
In the late kick off the day, NEC FC stunned URA FC 2-0 in a game played under the night lights of MTN-Omondi, stadium, Lugogo.
Joseph Dhata and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the goals to stun the Tax Collectors and hand Obua his second loss in four games in charge.
Dhata benefited from Hudu Mulikyi’s poor control to send a powerful effort past Denis Otim and put the hosts in the lead before striker Cromwell Rwothomio doubled the lead with a simple tap from Rashid Okocha’s beautiful cross in the second half.
This was the second loss for URA FC under new coach David Obua. They lost 2-0 to Vipers in Kitende which was his first loss.
In the next game, NEC FC visit BUL FC at Njeru on December 10 while URA FC will host Arua Hill at Lugazi on the same day.
Match day ten continues today with two fixtures as wounded Gaddafi FC welcomes UPDF FC while defending champions Vipers SC hosts stubborn newcomers Kitara FC at 7PM.
