Saudia Arabia ‘Circumcises’ Kobs with double edged knife as ‘Pilgrimage’ nears End

In the second attempt to test their potential ahead of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup to be held mid this month, The Kobs failed to beat Saudi Arabian side. 

The first friendly game held on 2nd July 2021 in Saudi Arabia (Middle East), Uganda Kobs (U-23) who had a training camp trip in middle East purposely to get ready for 2021 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, shared spoils with Saudi Arabian side that is also preparing for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

As if it wasn’t enough for each side, they scheduled a second friendly match today evening (Monday) at Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh to finally decide who is who before Uganda get back home.

However, the visitors (Uganda Kobs), fell twice as they pick the ball from their own net in 90minutes.

Abdullah Abdrahman and Hashim Alyami scored the two goals for Saudia in the game that ended 2-0 in favor of the hosts.

Abdrahman scored with a ferocious effort from inside the area in the 40th minute, and the Kobs failed to mount a comeback before Alyami hammered in a final nail from a flawless counter attack.

Uganda had a number of chances to make a difference in the game especially in second half but we’re not clinical enough to point, Head Coach, Morley Byekwaso also commented about in his post match interview.

“We have lost but we have done a tremendous job especially in the second half, we did not allow these guys to cross their half, we created chances almost we got three one on ones though we lost some concentration even in the substitutions we made. For me for sure we learnt a lot, we need only to continue sharping our forwards, we going to put much emphasis on that such our future plans works well in CECAFA.” Morley Byekwaso, Kobs head coach said after the game.

Uganda is having few days in Saudia Arabia as they wind up with their training camp.

The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup tournament starts on 17th July 2021 in Ethiopia.
