Pepsi University Football League: Kampala University Aim to Extend Unbeaten Run as UNIK Fight for Survival

Kampala University will be looking to tighten their grip on Group A when they face the struggling University of Kisubi (UNIK) in the ongoing University Football League (UFL) this Wednesday at the Yes Centre, Nsambya.

The 2013 champions come into the fixture brimming with confidence, having maintained an unbeaten start to the campaign. Coach Titie Kamala’s side opened with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against defending champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) before dispatching Mountain of the Moon University 3-1 in convincing fashion. A win against UNIK would propel them to the top of Group A with seven points—solidifying their status as early favourites for the knockout stages.

In contrast, UNIK find themselves in dire need of a revival. The Entebbe-based side has endured a rough start to the season, managing just a single point from two games. They were held to a goalless draw by debutants Mountain of the Moon University before falling 4-0 to Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Even more concerning for UNIK is the weight of history—they have gone three seasons without tasting victory in the UFL. Wednesday’s match, therefore, is not just about points but pride and redemption.

With Kampala University chasing group leadership and UNIK fighting to keep their qualification hopes alive, the stage is set for a tense and defining showdown under the Nsambya afternoon sun.
