Wednesday result:

Uganda Christian University 2-2 Kumi University

The 2019 Pepsi University Football League Champions, Uganda Christian University came from two goals down to salvage a point off aggressive Kumi University.

The end to end encounter of group C honored at UCU Mukono playground saw UCU and Kumi University share points in their return leg fixture following a two all draw.

Nyalimo Stephen and Oosan Joshua first half goals were canceled by Geofrey Gagganga and Isaac Ofoyirwoth second goals for both sides to settle for a point each.

Not like in their opening fixture in Kumi where they lost 2-0 to UCU, the visitors were very aggressive and energetic compared to the hosts especially in first stanza.

In the 25th minute Nyalimo Stephen,  handed Kumi University a lead with a half volley strike before Oosan Joshua doubled the lead in the 36th minute header, converting the well laid corner kick.

Before the end of first half, UCU tried to press the panic button to have a consolation but indeed it was Panic and they got nothing being their efforts went off target.

In the 55th, Nyalimo Stephen got a chance to make it 3-0 for Kumi but his efforts hit the post.

Ten minutes later, like a skipper, Geofrey Gagganga acted as an example with a beautiful header, thanks to Peter Kyomuhendo well laid corner kick.

In the 72nd minute, Isaac Ofoyirwoth settled the matters with a rebound following a hard strike from Abiti Harry inside the goal area.

Okello Reagan gotten a chance to secure all the three points for UCU in the dying minutes but his belter was punched over the bar by Kumi University custodian to keep the matters at a leveled grounds.

However, UCU’s previous two fixtures they have been not so impressive like they were in the opening three gamed of the group, they shared spoils on road, 1-1 against Kampala International University and this 2-2 draw at home turns a walkup call for the 2019 Champions as they are almost 99% into quarters.

If they secure a point in their last group stage game against Busitema University, UCU will go as table leaders.

The draw secured from Mukono, moved Kumi University to three points but didn’t change the position, still on bottom of the table.

The league will resume on Thursday at IUIU Kabojja Female Campus when Victoria University will be hosting IUIU.
