Netball Super League: “We Have the Antidote For Whoever Wants to Dethrone us” ,NIC’s Nampungu at the League Launch

The Netball Super League, season 2022/23 has been launched on Wednesday at Uganda Netball Federation office at Aga Khan Building, Old Kampala.

The league ‘s defending champions, National Insurance Corporation Netball Club skipper, Joan Nampungu revealed that they are ready to retain their trophy and they do have the antidote to whoever wants to dethrone them from the top.

“We are ready to defend our title, our coaches are giving us all what we need.

We are not intimidated by any team and we don’t underestimate any, yeah, the clubs that maybe give us challenge are; Prison, KCCA and Weyonje but again we have their antidote, its we with their medicine and we do have it in plenty, and it’s only us with it so they should get ready for us, we pull out that medicine at the point of need. ” Confident Nampungu revealed in a press conference.

However, her counterpart and a skipper at KCCA, Irene Eyaru said that come rain come sunshine, they are dethroning NIC from the Queen’s throne this season.

“There are some teams that gave us hard time list season but we had to come out and identify our weakness, bean training and ready for the league.

So this season, come rain come sunshine, we are winning this year’s title. “

On the same day, the federation through planning and organizing committee, launched the league logo.

They revealed that whichever player, coach and umpire to take part in this year’s must be licensed and the players’ licenses by Thursday, this week, they are going to be out.

This year’s edition will have entrance costs, the fans will be paying 5000/- to watch the full day’s games, and that gate collection 80% will go to home teams and the 20% to the federation, though with Busia’s case, the Busia Greater Lions team will be getting 30% since it’s the only club in league with a home ground. Then the 70% will go to the home teams.

The 2022/23 season games, some of them will be on floodlights while others will be live on Salt TV.
