The 2017 champions, Prisons Netball club and league newcomers, Busia Greater Lions eat big on match week ten of the 2022/23 Uganda Netball Super League held on Saturday at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
The Imelda Nyongesa soldiers had a double win on the day when the comfortably humbled fellow peace keepers, Uganda Police and struggling Posta Netball Club.
In their opening fixture of the day, now the third placed side on the log, Prisons beat Posta 78-19, with their main shooter, Christine Namulumba Kango netting 75 goals alone.
Prisons won all the four quarters, 08-12,04-20,04-22 and 03-24, like before, Posta looked disjointed from the start to the last quarter and their shooter, Kulusumu Nandase revealed that what beats them a lot this season is not training together.
“We came knowing that Prisons is a better side compared to us, but we never thought of losing to this margin. What beats us most is coordination, we have been not training together, most of us we have been in exams, but the good thing we are back from school, we’re going to train and see that we display good performance in second round. ” Says Kulusumu Nandase.
Posta has registered only one win this season and it came against Mutelx Life Sport.
Prisons are still unbeaten in seven games, they also beat Police Netball Club on the same day, they won the game 66-44 and it was last game of the day. And in this game, Namulumba Christine Kango scored 63 goals and in two games, she netted 168 goals which moved her to third position on the scorers’ chart with 253 goals.
“As a player I am targeting to be a top scorer this season, yes I am coming from behind but we have played few games compared to those above me and I am trekking the slowly and I will get them.” Says Christine Namulumba.
Meanwhile, Busia Greater Lions bounced back to winning ways, they won two of their Saturday fixtures, they beat Mutelx Life Sport in an epic encounter that ended 44-42 before going back into the wounds of Posta, beating them 63-36.
The two wins moved Busia two places on the log from 8th to 6th position with ten points.
In other fixtures, KCCA beat Africa Renewal University 48-32 to maintain their unbeaten run and thier second position on the 12 team log.
