Netball: Mulindwa Permanently Deletes Ndawula, Installs Nourdine as Head Coach
Ahead of the 2022 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association [USSSA] ball games two tournament, the Director of St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa introduced Hassan Kato Nourdine as the Netball team head coach.
The announcement was made early this week after the sacking of Ndawula Steven who didn’t performance well in the just concerned Wakiso District qualifiers held at Kawanda SS.
Ndawula’s team performance kept on ditoriating this year every after tournament and the worse came to worst when he failed even to produce a bronze medal at district level. His side lost to champions St Noa at semifinals and even at classification.
With a result oriented Mulindwa, it was an automatic sacking for the ‘Mulangira’.
Hassan the level three coaching certificate holder took over from Ngando SS and the deal is expected to be finalized on Wednesday that is in range of two years.
Speaking to this website, the Rock [Uganda’s National Male Netball team] assistant coach, Kato expressed his excitement towards the job he acquired at the best netball school in East Africa.
“I am excited that am part of the family of St Mary’s, one of the best school in Africa, I am blessed that I part of the family.
“I know the history of Kitende, I know what it means to be a coach at Kitende and when they were looking for a coach, they looked for a coach who can fit in their history.” Says Kato.
” I am ready to bring Kitende back to where it belongs and I am going to do what they expect from me” he added.
St Mary’s is one of the pressure schools that needs only good results, but Kato asserted that he is ready to contain that pressure.
“Any good coach must be able to handle pressure, actually I don’t call it pressure, its their policy, to join them, you must agree with those policies. And at my level, I no longer fear pressure, because have been in this, though I was at a school not at level of Kitende but I have been playing against them.” He explained.
St Mary’s has been a dominant school in netball at Uganda level and East Africa for the past 20 to ten years.
Who is Nourdin Kato Hassan?
He is Kato El-Nouredine Hassan a born of 1988, 34 years of age, and a level three Coach. Before joining coaching, he played netball and he featured for Kampala University Netball Club.
He has been a coach at Ngando SS, he coached Arusha City Council Netball Club in Arusha Tanzania, that is between 2019 and 2021, he recently joined Kampala Capital City Authority netball club as assistant coach.
