NCS Bends Down Low, Accepts to deal with UUSFA
As it is in all spheres of life, it takes time and consistency for another party to accept and buy your new idea put on table.
The same happened to the newly formed Union, that umbrella the national Sports federations and associations in Uganda, Union of Uganda Sports Federations and Associations (UUSFA).
But with their determination, especially from their interim president, who is Championing the idea, Moses Muhangi, they have managed to sell the idea to a number of important stakeholders in the country and they have started bending down low.
Immediately after unveiling the Union, the leaders wrote to sports governing body in the country, the National Council of Sports, but the NCS officials took a slow pace into the idea following a narrative created that maybe, the Union is coming in place to fight or collide with the works of the Council.
The Union knowing that they are on right track of advocating and speaking for the sport in Uganda to get more funding and the government to work on their universal challenging factors, they did not seize and during the course, they managed to meet the State Minister for Sports, Hamson Obua, and Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and the two offices gave them a green light to continue with their idea.
After reaching those offices, NCS saw it worth to listen to the Union and give them a benefit of doubt.
Yesterday, the two parties NCS and UUSFA met at Lugogo and agreed to work together in the development of sport in Uganda according to what the Union Interim president, Moses Muhangi told this website.
“…the meeting was basically NCS responding to our letter we brought to them earlier seeking for their audience to try and to talk to them about the formation of the group [UUSFA] and our mandate.” Muhangi said before adding. “It has taken them some time to respond to it but later they responded to us, that’s why we had a meeting.”
Muhangi said the Council has accepted to work together with the Union and asked them to write to council officially about their agenda and mandate.
“We presented our stand and they agreed with us, that the issues we raised are very serious and make sense. And after discussion we have to come to a conclusion with NCS that we clear our mandates that we want to do as a Union versa via the mandate so that we don’t appear to be conflicting.”
Muhangi also said that they are still on the course of meeting the president of Uganda and they are working hand in hand with State Minister to see that they schedule a meeting with the him.
