Women Football: Asubo-Gafford Strengthens Squad With Eight Fresh Legs

Though they are mute on when the 2020/21 FUFA women’s Elite league will kickoff, Asubo-Gafford Ladies strengthened their squad with new signings to fill different positions.

The Kyebando originated side, confirmed four new faces into their squad as they pursue to storm FUFA Super League come 2021/22 season.

By inch, Asubo failed to get promoted to Super League in just concluded competitions after losing their promotion playoff final against the league debutants by then, Tooro Queens, the former lost via penalty shootouts in the game held at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru in November 2020.

Asubo brought in three forward and one midfielder.

The midfield gem, Nakaayi Madinah Yawe, a left footed Queen is among the four who joined Asubo on a two year contract from Super League side, Lady Doves.

After completing her transfer, the 17 Year old  Madinah revealed why she joined Asubo.

“I joined Asubo because people make change or choice so I was not forced out of Lady Doves, it’s not a bad team but I wanted to get fresh challenge.” Madinah said before adding. “I promise to fans of my new family, just wait the amazing lefty on the pitch giving out her best and with the aim of bringing the team in super.” 

Madinah is among the few quickly developing talent any one may need to watch.

Apart from her, the Club signed a forward in Ada Abiine who once featured for Kyambogo University, a none league side.

The other fresh legs, Asubo added in their strong team is Namagembe Aisha a forward also from Lady Doves and Nakaweesa Violet from Excel Soccer Academy based in Gayaza.

It’s not yet known when the football governing body will give a green light to women football in Uganda.
