The High Court Judge at Twed Plaza Kampala, Justice Micheal Elubu has today ruled that the former Presidential candidate, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert’s personal freedom should be immediately restored.

Justice Micheal Elubu while giving his judgement on Monday 25, January 2021, at Civil Division High court at Twed Plaza, ordered the security operatives surrounded at Kyagulanyi’s home in Magere Wakiso District must vacate his place with immediate effect.

Justice Micheal Elubu has also immediately restored the right to restricted movements to Barbra Itungo , wife to Kyagulanyi and the Attorney General must pay them costs for this application.

It should be remembered that once the security operatives refused Barbie to go to her garden to collect food.

The court then advised state that if it has evidence that Kyagulanyi is a danger to society and is about to commit an offence, it should follow the law, arrest him , take him to an authorised detention centre and later produce him in court otherwise his continued detention at his home is illegal and an infringement on his personal liberties.

Now the eyes are turned to security operatives and Government to see whether they will comply with the court ruling. The same has even happened to Former Forum for Democratic Change president Dr. Kizza Besigye but the security never left his premises for a good time.

Since 14, January 2021, the National Unity Platform principal Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his wife Barbie Itungo have been under illegal detention at their own home in Magere.
