Kayunga: Go Rescue Troubled Bbaale Constituents, Speaker Directs Min. Of Disaster and Preparedness

The deputy speaker of parliament Anita Amongi who has chaired yesterday’s plenary session has directed the state minister of relief, disaster Preparedness, Hon. Esther Anyakuni to go to Baale constituency in Kayunga district and rescue the people in that area who were affected by the consistent flooding and droughts.

The speaker issued the directive after the complaint which has been
raised by Bbaale Constituency Mp Charles Tebandeke who informed the august house that over 4000 families where affected by the floods and they were dislocated and now they are facing the problem of drought but the government has not yet come in to rescue the hard situation those people are living in.

Mp Tebandeke told parliament that if the government through her ministry of relief and disaster preparedness fail to come to rescue those people many are likely to lose their lives because of famine, drought and flooding and claimed that any time floods are coming back since the government has not put in place any mechanism to prevent floods in Bbaale Constituency again.

Tebandeke has also informed the house that it is quite annoying
because they have reported the same issue to the prime minister’s
office and to the ministry of relief and disaster preparedness but
their queries have not been answered.

In her response on the floor the state minister for relief and disaster
preparedness Esther Anyakuni has refuted the allegations raised by Mp
Tebandeke that her minister has not come to the rescue of the people
suffering from floodings and drought in Bbale county Kayunga district.

Minister Anyakuni also told the house that they were preparing to go
there with the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanjja to see how they can solve that.

The speaker of parliament then directed the minister and the prime
minister to get time and travel to Kayunga district together with the
area Mps to look at the situation to get solution on how they can help
those people suffering from flooding and drought.
