Kayunga District Administers its Maiden COVID-19 Vaccine

Kayunga District has on Tuesday, 16, March 2021, joined the rest of the country and launched the COVID-19 vaccination exercise at Kayunga Hospital.

The vaccine was delivered last week and the first dose has been prioritised for health workers to be followed by the teaching staff because they are at risk of getting the disease because they deal with people on a day to day basis.

Five vaccination centres have been established in the district and these include Kayunga Hospital, Bbaale Health Centre .IV, Galiraya , Wabwoko and Kangulumira Health Centre IV.

While launching the vaccination exercise at Kayunga Hospital, the RDC Elijah Madoli noted that this has demonstrated the government’s commitment towards saving the lives of the health workers as front line workers from the pandemic and also to strengthening the health systems.

He has commended the government for recognizing the efforts of health workers by prioritising them as the first beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Chief Administrative Officer of the district, the health facilities will not be closed, the exercise will be done in a phased manner in order not to inconvenience service delivery in health centres.
