UPSSA Games 2024: Kanjuki Junior writes History, Reaches Maiden U12 Football Final
It was another day of glory for not only Kanjuki Junior School but also Kayunga District as they wrote history by making it to the finals of Uganda Primary Schools Ball Games and SNE championships underway in Soroti City.
Kanjuki Junior School who represented Kayunga district needed penalty shootouts to eliminate title contenders, Iganga District in the semi final played on Monday 2nd, September 2024 at Soroti Sports Club in Soroti City.
Director of Kanjuki Junior School, Isa Basomesa “I do these things with passion because kayunga is seen nowhere on the national levels. Kayunga always has negative news, and we think sports can market the district on the national level. My dream started in 2012 when I saw the branding of the district. Preparation and teamwork have been key at this stage, and this result has not come as a surprise”.

Road to the finals
Kayunga topped the group O with maximum points (9) defeating Namisindwa 5-0, Tororo Municipality 4-0, and Buikwe by 1-0 scoreline.
In the knockout stage, Kayunga eliminated Sheema in Round of 32 by 1-0, Ntoloko on round of 16 by 2-0, Buikwe on quarter finals by 2-0 and Iganga on semi finals by 3-2 in penalty shoots following a barren draw (0-0).
