Football Governance: Politics Take Centre stage as MDFA AGM Passes over 120M New Year’s Budget

With only months to enter the election period in Uganda’s football at different levels, the incumbents doing whatever it takes to retain their positions and the newcomers paving ways to take over.
The Mukono District Football Association [MDFA] held it’s last Annual General Meeting before the elections at Jobiah Hotel Mukono on Sunday but politics sentiments took the centre stage.
The AGM that has attracted over the quaram of DFA delegates was graced by the FUFA EXCO member, Sam Mpiima as the chief Guest, chairman of Buganda Region Zone one, Yenka Daniels, Buganda Region Association chairperson, Andrew Kaweesa was represented by Hassan Kavuma.
In this AGM, the guest of honor, Sam Mpiima hailed Mahadi Kivumbi and his executive for the life he has given Mukono district football and asked the delegates to return him back in the seat come 2025.
“Chairman Mahadi Kivumbi has done great for football in Mukono, he has given it life, you see there is hope, at District level to hold such a successful AGM is something great to the football development, secondly he has given chance to the youths to play, organized a number of tournaments, he has lobbied for the game in Mukono, having a sounding sponsor in lower football is not easy. ” Guest of Honor, Sam Mpiima FUFA Exco Member hailed Mukono DFA chairperson, Mahadi Kivumbi.
“This man is a good one, is a listening leader and on top of that he supports the works of Eng. Moses Magogo who is also returning as the FUFA president, so I request you to give another mandate to Mahadi.” Mpiima rallied Mukono District Football delegates.
Mahadi Kivumbi who is serving his first term in office asserted that he is returning to add value to Mukono football, he has highlighted the tangible works he did with his executive.
“….there reached a time when I am fade up and I was going to serve only one term, but my friend and a person I trust, Mr. Yenka told me that you can’t leave the game with unfinished business, he asked me to return and please I am coming back.” Mahadi confirmed.
In the same AGM, the delegates passed a budget of 127,000,000/- for the 2024/25 financial year.
And according to the budget estimates, they expect to get financial support from FUFA, Donations, sponsorships, Clubs registrations and fines.
The Association is expect their expenditure to stand at 113,000,000/- .
