Kampala Derby: KCCA to Try their Luck at Wankulukuku, Facing In-form Jogoos
The record champions SC Villa are set to lock horns with 13-time champion KCCA FC in Kampala Derby of match day twelve of Startimes Uganda Premier League on Friday evening at Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium.
Both teams come into this fixture following their wins at home, KCCA FC were 3-0 winners over Bright Stars at MTN Omondi, Stadium, while hosts SC Villa narrowly edged Gaddafi FC 1-0 at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
However, the Abdallah Mubiru coached side, have not won any game away from home, all their three victories came from home, Vipers 3-1 against Vipers, Gaddafi 6-1 and the latest being a 3-0 win over Soltilo Bright Stars.
KCCA FC completed the double over SC Villa last season, winning 3-0 away at Aki Bua Stadium, Lira and 4-1 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in the return leg.
In the previous 25 meetings, the Kasasiro Boys have registered 12 victories, while SC Villa has won three times and the other 10 meetings have ended all in square.
Speaking to the media via SC Villa website, former KCCA FC forward Charles Lwanga, is optimistic that, Villa will take the day.
“I’m eager to embrace the challenge of the Kampala Derby as we host KCCA FC. I believe in the team’s resilience and determination to deliver a memorable performance on our home turf. We’re ready to leave it all on the field and make our fans proud.” He started.
“KCCA FC is a strong team, irrespective of their current position, and we’re not taking any chances. We respect our opponents and are fully focused on executing our game plan to secure a positive result.” He concluded
KCCA FC tactician Abdallah Mubiru calls for character if the team is to win the game.
“We all need to be at our very best going into the derby. This is a big game that calls for big mentality. We are still working with the players so that they can master our game model.” He said.
A win for KCCA FC, will help them go to 9th position with 13 points if Soltilo fail to win, while SC Villa will go to 4th postion on the log if they come out victorious.

SC Villa- goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige awaits a late fitness test, while young talent Simon Mukisa is still recovering from a shoulder injury. Unfortunately, Umaru Lutalo, the Jogoo’s leading scorer, is sidelined due to a muscle injury but the rest of the squad remains available for selection.
KCCA FC- Ashraf Mugume, Elvis Mwanje and Hassan Mubiru returned to full training this week and took part in a practice match and available for the derby while left back Kizza Mustafa is a doubt after getting a hamstring injury in training. Julius Poloto has commenced light training, Peter Magambo suffered a knock against Bright Stars FC and is a doubt for the derby and Emilson Gonzaga is ruled out due to a long-term injury.
