Just In: Jacob Oulanyah Elected Speaker of 11th Parliament

The National Resistance Movement NRM candidate Jacob Oulanyah has been declared the winner of the 11th Parliamentary Speakership seat.

Oulanyah defeated the two other contenders including Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and Forum for Democratic Change FDC’s Hon Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda.

Results indicate that Ssemuju Nganda Polled 15 votes while Kadaga has 197 Votes.

Officially the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dolo announced Jacob Oulanyah as the elected Speaker of 11th Parliament after garnering 310 votes out the 524 votes casted on the day.

There were two invalid votes record in the process.

It should be recalled that the former boss of the Parliament, Hon. Alitwala Kadaga came as an independent candidate after her party decided to go with Hon. Jacob Oulanyah.

The Parliament today held it’s first meeting at Kololo Independence Ground Kampala before the guidance of the Chief Justice and President Museveni as a guest in the August house.
