FWSL: UCU Lady Cardinals, Lady Doves Tacticians Comfortable with Points Shared in League Opener

UCU Lady Cardinals 0-0 Lady Doves
The FUFA Women Super League season, 2023/24 in a cool manner kicked off today, Saturday at UCU Mukono playground and the first fixture saw the hosts UCU and Lady Doves sharing points in a goal less draw.
Being it was the opening fixture, the two sides didn’t show the arge for the goal and were so conservative in their style of play and limited goal scoring chances were created.
Saving the Joweria Nagadya’s free kick that hit the crossbar in the late minutes of second half, no any other serious talking point in the game apart from the return of Meble Kusaasira, former Kampala Queens player and Catherine Nakiridde who featured for UCU Lady Cardinals.
The Christian Magoba coached side is with a number of new faces and on opening day, it was Natasha Barbara in goal posts not Nalongo Hadijah.
Lady Doves also featured new faces like Achiro Barbara,
Both coaches, Jessey Lukoki of Lady Doves and Christian Magoba were happy with a point gained though had a feeling of taking three points
“Being a new head coach of Lady Doves, we are trying to develop a new culture, a new style of play, that being our first game, we have dropped two points though a point is not bad but since it’s the first game, the girls had phobia, having a long time break without competing so i think they will gain momentum from this point achieved and maximize to see that we acquire goals and objectives that the club that we set.” Jessey Lukoki of Lady Doves.
Christian Magoba who is having literally a new team.
“It’s two points lost, why, because we planned for this games, the last time they came here, they also made a draw, it was a two all draw, so we knew that we would capitalize from the mistakes we did last time but because we lost keep players like Asiat [Nalugwa], we were little bit blunt upfront that’s why we couldn’t take away all the three points but as the league builds on we shall also build momentum and get the three points but again even one point is important.” Magoba Christian.
The league will resume on Sunday with four fixtures at different grounds.
