FWSL: Kamiyat, Hat-trick Girl, Makerere Tactician Blames Fatigue as Lady Doves Go Riot against Rines

Literally, the first round of the FUFA Women Super League climaxed today, Sunday with five games on various grounds.
Asubo Ladies FC have been impressive on the day closing day of first round, being the only away team that secured a win. The Kyebando based side registered her first away win of the season and the first against Makerere University in the league at Makerere University Grounds.
The side beat Ndawula Fred charges 4-2 on Sunday, their first away win of the season and the second in the season.
Kamiyat Naigaga become the second player to score hat-trick this season, the first was Lillian Kasuubo of She Maroons and amazingly, the latter’s hat-trick came against Asubo Ladies FC.
Naigaga who had a total of four goals in the league last season, appeared on the score sheet for the first time this season in the 45th minute.
The speed merchant had Asubo a lead with a slot in strike, thanks Sarah Babirye calculative pass from right flank and Asubo won the first stanza 1-0.
Kamiyat Naigaga and Sarah Babirye combination continued to work in second half and the 57th Babirye again released Kamiyat to score her second before completing the hat-trick in the 61st minute.
Teddy Nyafono also appeared on the score sheet with a rebound in the 65th minute when the Makerere University custodian failed to handle well Sarah Babirye free kick.
Makerere scored their two goals last through Sharon Namatovu and Daphine Nalubowa in the 67th and and 73rd minute.
The win dragged Asubo Ladies FC out of the red zone for the first time and moved to 8th position with eight points in eight games.
Asubo’s last fixture will be on Saturday against Kampala Queens at Kampala Quality Grounds.
Makerere University WFC tactician, Ndawula Fred, put blame of their loss to fatigue claiming that the team has played five fixtures in space of 17 days which wasn’t good for the health of his girls.
“I can say we lost the game because of fatigue, the body of most of my girls were down and same failed to play today because of that, so I request the competitions committee to mind much about the health of the girls in the league.” Said Ndawula Fred, Makerere University WFC tactician.
Makerere remained in the 7th position with eight points.
Elsewhere, Kampala Queens fought hard to beat Wakiso Hill 2-1 at Lugogo as Lady Doves hummer Rines SS WFC 5-1 and Kawempe Muslim LFC maintained her spot on top of the log with a 3-0 classic win against Uganda Martyrs WFC.
The league is expected to commence in a fortnight for second round.
