Fortebet Real Star Monthly Awards: A Quartet Shines In June
Even in lockdown, the stars keep on shining and the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Awards organizers crowned the best of the best of Month of June today.
The event that is fully sponsored by Canaan Investments, Fortebet Uganda and Jude Color Solutions took part today in Kampala
Though the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced the second total lockdown in the country on Friday 18th June, the organizers have already identified the real stars of the month.
Four sports disciplines were selected and produced 12 athletes where the best would be selected, the disciplines include; Football, Swimming, Hockey and Motorsport.
The football category had three contestants, that is KCCA FC’s youthful forward Samuel Ssenyonjo, Vipers’ midfield gem, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Joseph Ssemujju of BUL FC.
At the end of the contest, Joseph Ssemujju of BUL came out as the June shining star basing on stats displayed by the organizers.
Ssenyonjo managed to score four goals in the two games he played. He was on the score sheet four times as KCCA defeated Kitara 6-2 in the league but didn’t score when KCCA played to 1-1 draw in the return leg with Express in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Byaruhanga was on the scoresheet for Vipers in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal return leg against SC Villa which the Venoms won 2-0, while Joseph Ssemujju of BUL scored two goals in the two games he featured for BUL in the month of June.
In hockey category, Richard Ssemwogerere who has scored five goals in the league beat his counterparts in the race, Brian Okodi who also scored 5 goals in one game against Vikings) and Sharon Oroma.
This is the second consecutive month when Hockey discipline appear on the list of the performing sports in the country.
In motorsport, Dunkan Mubiru Kikankane who was second in the Kassanda rally and maintainedh his top spot in the National Rally Championship last month, he also took part in the just concluded Kenya Safari rally crowded the winners beating the crew of crew of Jas Mangat and Joseph Kamya in a Mitsubishi Evo10 who won the Kassanda rally and the crew of Rajiv Ruparelia/Enock Olinga who finished third in that rally.
In Swimming, Kirabo Namutebi who excelled in the month of June at the Orlando Golden Meet in Croatia had no competitor.
The winners in all the categories moved away with accolades and cash prizes from Jude Color Solutions, Canan Soda and Fortebet Uganda.
The event held on Wednesday at Route256 amidst strick rules and guidelines of COVID-19 Pandemic.
