Covid Relief: Expect Nabbanja’s ‘Ka’ Money on Thursday, Anxious Vulnerable Should Wait for more 48hrs

The Minister of Gender Labour and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi revealed that the government has postponed the sending of money to vulnerable persons by 48 hours as they still wait for more data from different Cities and Municipalities.

While addressing media at Uganda Media Centre Kampala on Tuesday afternoon, the Minister who came in for Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja categorically said that the government will start sending money to beneficiaries at exactly 10am on Thursday, 08th July 2021 not today as it was earlier communicated.

Minister is saying that the cause of this postponement of payment is the delay by town clerks to send in substantial data to the main server at the ministry.

Amongi says sofar as ministry of gender they have received 21,489 names out of 50,1107 households to receive money.

Among these only two cities have sent all their data including Gulu City with 4091 names followed by Kira Municipality with 1316 names.

Amongi adds that in Kampala there has been delay in uploading data and when it reached 2pm today no data had been received but by tomorrow morning 70% expected to be uploaded.

She finally says payment will start on Thursday at 10am and this will be through a launch done by Prime Minister at the office of the prime minister.

Amongi also called on all town clerks to take this extension as an opportunity and finalise all data faster so that on Thursday the process kicks off.
