Finance Trust Women Super League: From Teammate to Threat, Nakasi’s Homecoming Dominates Martyrs-Warriors Anticipated Clash

Matchday 4 of the Finance Trust Bank Women’s Super League up this Friday, October 25, with three fixtures on the card.

Olila High School hosts Rines, St. Noa Girls welcome Makerere University, while all eyes will be on St. Gerald Stadium, where Uganda Martyrs Lubaga take on archrivals Kawempe Muslim Ladies in what has become one of the most anticipated clashes in women’s football.

The encounter between Uganda Martyrs and Kawempe Muslim carries extra spice — a fierce rivalry rooted in years of school and league competition dominance. Kawempe, nicknamed the Valley Warriors, enter the fixture in superb form, unbeaten in their last three outings. They began the season with a draw against defending champions Kampala Queens, before dispatching Olila High School and St. Noa Zana in style.

Coach Ayub Khalifa’s side will be chasing a third straight victory, buoyed by the sharp form of key players like Nabukenya Agnes, Namutebi Kuluthum, Hadijja Babirye, and goalkeeper Saidat Namwanje.

Kawempe have scored six goals and conceded three this season, and their impressive record against Uganda Martyrs — five wins, two losses, and one draw in their last eight meetings — gives them a psychological edge ahead of the 10:00 AM kickoff.

Adding more intrigue to the tie, Latifa Nakasi, formerly Uganda Martyrs’ talisman, will face her old club for the first time since joining Kawempe. The forward has hit top form with two goals in her last two games, and all eyes will be on how the Lubaga-based side plans to stop their former star.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga are still searching for consistency after a difficult start to the campaign. Following a heavy defeat to She Corporates, the Kidawalime Ladies showed resilience with back-to-back draws against Amus and Lady Doves, and will hope to build on that momentum. However, defensive lapses remain a concern — they’ve conceded nine goals while scoring only five.

Coach Edward Kasozi will need a disciplined backline and tactical precision to keep Kawempe’s attack at bay, especially in the absence of Nakasi, whose departure left a significant void in the team’s offense.

Elsewhere, St. Noa Zana will seek redemption at Wankulukuku Stadium after their loss to Kawempe. They host Makerere University Ladies, targeting maximum points to reignite their campaign.
