Finance Trust Women Super League: Nakagolo Strikes as Valley Warriors Silence Uganda Martyrs in Tight Kampala Derby

Kawempe Muslim Ladies continued their fine form in the Finance Trust Bank Women’s Super League after edging rivals Uganda Martyrs Lubaga 1-0 in a tense encounter at St. Gerald Stadium, Lubaga, on Saturday morning, October 25, 2025.

Jovia Nakagolo was the heroine of the day, netting the game’s only goal in the second half to hand the Valley Warriors their third consecutive victory. The win saw Kawempe climb to the summit of the league table with 10 points from four matches.

Nakagolo’s decisive strike came after Uganda Martyrs’ goalkeeper failed to hold onto a routine ball, with her defenders caught napping. The forward reacted swiftly, slotting home with composure to seal all three points for the visitors.

Having missed several opportunities in the first half—including a one-on-one chance—Nakagolo’s goal was a relief for Kawempe, who looked more confident and organized after taking the lead.

Uganda Martyrs, on the other hand, struggled to find rhythm and creativity in attack, rarely testing Kawempe’s defense. Their blunt performance condemned them to yet another disappointing result—two losses in their last four outings—leaving the Kidawalime Girls with just two points from four matches.

The pressure is now mounting on the Uganda Martyrs technical bench to fix the team’s shortcomings before they fall further behind in the title race.

Kawempe will now turn their attention to other fixtures as they await Sunday’s results involving Kampala Queens versus Asubo Ladies and She Corporate against Amus College, hoping their rivals stumble.

Elsewhere, St. Noa Girls Zana drew 2-2 with Makerere University Ladies in a thrilling contest at Wakulukuku. Dorcus Lwalisa and Patricia Nayiga were on target for St. Noa, while Rashida Nankya and Allen Nasazi scored for the visitors.

In Soroti, Olila High School and Rines shared spoils in a goalless draw, each side walking away with a point.
