Finally Govt Bows To Pressure, Allows Music Concerts To Resume
Uganda Entertainment industry mighty say thank you Nigerian Artiste, Omah Lay for coming to Uganda.
Him hosting a fully sold off concert over the weekend at Dungu Resort Munyonyo woken up Ugandan artistes to lift lid on double standards of the sitting government.
Their excessive pressure onto the government and ministry of health, yielded short term fruits.
It’s now official the government of Uganda allowed Music concerts to resume on Saturday 19th December 2020, since they were banned in March the same Year.
The Uganda National Cultural Center Board Chairperson, Sam Okello Kelo confirmed this news today.
The conditions that were put in place, the shows must be in an open space, starting from 7am to 7pm and other SOPs off-the-wall ministry of Health should followed.
According to Okello, the Uganda National Cultural Center, wrote to Ministry of Health and COVID-19 National Task Force on the reopening of sector and their letter was received on 02nd November 2020 before getting the response on 09th the same month.
“Our letter requesting for the reopening of the Art and Culture sector was received by the ministry of health and COVID-19 National Task Force on 02nd November 2020, and 09th November 2020, we received a response from the MOH/COVID-19 National Task Force partially opening our sector with instructions to strictly observe the SOPs and Ministry of Health guidelines.” The document reads in part.
“I am therefore happy to announce to you that our sector (Art and Culture) has now been opened to operate but with strict observance of MoH COVID-19 guidelines and SOPs.” It continues.
