Electoral Commission Commits, We’re Ready to Conduct All by-Elections

The Independent Electoral Commission of Uganda today have revealed that they are in final preparations for the Local governments elections and by-Elections to be conducted in different parts for the country.
The fore is the Kayunga District LCV Chairperson by-Election where the residents of Kayunga have to replace Late Feffeka Sserubogo who died in June this year.
The by-Election this side is on and the voting is this month.
The Electoral Commission Chairman Mr Byamukama Mugyenyi today at the Head quarters of the Commission in Kampala has announced that the commission is more than ready to conduct this by-election and this time on violence to be attained and every one must be vigilant to keep Peace in Uganda.
The nomination exercise was conducted on 29th and 30th November this year and a total Number of 1246 candidates were successfully nominated to contest for the 323 elective positions which are vacant on various local government councils in 114 Districts/ Cities across the country.
In respect by-election of District Chairperson for Kayunga there only six candidates namely
1. Kamoga Jamilu of independent
2. Musis Boniface Bandikubi of independent
3. Muwonge Andrew of NRM
4. Nakweede Harriet of NUP
5. Nyanzi Majid of independent
6. Waddimba Anthony DP.
The electoral commission completed Preparations of the National voter’s Register to be used on Thursday 16 December 2021 as the polling day for by-election of District Chairperson Kayunga and also other chairpersons at sub county level.
The commission further commends Uganda police for ensuring compliance with the campaign guide lines including enforcement of standard operating procedures for prevention of Covid 19 during electoral activities.
