Cricket: Victoria Pearls flagged off For T20 Women’s Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi

To secure a slot in the 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Bangladesh, Uganda will have to go through qualifiers slated to take place from April 25th to 2nd May in Abu Dhabi.

And this is the second time Uganda will be taking part in T20 women’s Global Qualifiers. The first came in 2018 hosted by Netherlands.

A contingent of 26 having 15 players on it and 9 officials traveling to play a build up match against UAE on 21st April and Vanuatu on 23rd before playing their opener against Scotland on 25th April night at Tolarance Oval has been flagged off on Thursday at Lugogo sports Complex. 

Uganda will play more games as on 27th April during day taking on USA at ZCS then playagainst Thailand at Tolarance Oval in the night cricket action on 29th April and lastly playing Sri Lanka on 1st May at ZCS during day. 

To qualify, Uganda has to finish in the top two places in the group.

At the Flag off held at National Council of Sports on Lugogo on Thursday 18th April, Team captain Janet Mbabazi appeared positive from the preparation they have had “first of all I am glad for being entrusted with the team’s captancey, we have had a great preparations and we are ready for the challenge ahead”
