Cricket Cranes get a new Permanent coach

The Uganda Cricket Association has officially revealed the new permanent head coach for the Cricket Cranes. 

Having lasted for more than half a year without a permanent head Coach, the association finally put trust in experienced tactician in Abhay Sharma.

The 54 year old tactician will be in control of the team for a period of three years according to agreement signed between the two parties.

The announcement came in with just less than two months to ICC T20 Cricket World Cup which will take place in West Indies.

Since Lawrence Mahatlane’s departure in October after the expiring of his contract, Jackson Ogwang have been in charge on an interim bases and shall continue his services as Sharma’s assistant.

The 54 year-old Sharma has huge expertise in teaching cricket as he holds a level III Indian Coaching license with great working experience. 

After his his unveiling that was held today in Kololo, Sharma expressed his gratitude for taking over the charge. 

“I’m very grateful to UCA for this chance to work with a bunch of Cricket talents in Uganda. It is now my second residence here having been in Uganda for the previous two days. I am already feeling at home ahead of this job and I promise I will do my greatest to see Uganda performing highly”

Uganda Cricket Association Chief Executive Officer John Walusimbi highlighted on how they chose Sharma out of 13 high profile coaches world over.

“Now we have chosen Sharma as the person appropriate for the Cricket Cranes Coaching,
Sharma was chosen from 13 coaches who filed in for the vacant job after the departure of Mahatlane.” John Walusimbi mentioned

Sharma will instantly assume his duties as the Cricket Cranes preparing for upcoming ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.
