Uganda Police confirmed the death of Erica Kyeyune, a National Resistance Movement chairperson of Kitubulu Katabi who was shot by a soldier alleged to be from special force command (SFC).
This one to be shot today at Entebbe Central Market in Wakiso District, the Police and SFC was dispersing protesters of NRM and DP who were against the announcement of Fabrice Ruhinda (NRM leaning independent) as their Mayor.
According to the earlier reports, Entebbe Municipality residents, to be particular those at Entebbe Central Market busted into protests when the heard the Wakiso District Returning officer Tolbert Misinguzi declared Fabrice Ruhinda as their newly elected Mayor and yet according to their declaration forms, Ruhinda (2825) was in third position behind NRM and Incumbent candidate Kabwama Mutebi (5,257) and Democratic Party’s Kayanja De Paul (5,672 votes).
The announced caused them to protest moving towards district headquarters in disagreement with what was announced, in the process, the police and military came in to disperse them and in the process, Erica Kyeyune was shot dead and other five went away with serious injuries.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Patrick Onyango released a statement about the incident that happened today, Tuesday, 26, January 2021.
“Police in Entebbe are investigating a case of murder by shooting that happened today 26/ 01/2021 at about 1020 hours.
Police received Information from, a medical officer attached to Emmanuel Medical Clinic, Entebbe municipality that one Kyeyune Erica, a boda boda rider was shot by a yet to be identified person and was rushed to Emmanuel Medical Clinic where he was pronounced dead.
It is alleged that the incident happened at Entebbe Central market, where the deceased is believed to have been part of the riotious mob who were protesting the declaration by Wakiso Returning Officer of Mayoral aspirant, an independent candidate in the race for Entebbe Municipality, one Fabrice Rulinda as the winner of the Monday Mayoral elections. This was to the dismay of the electorates who were sure the NRM flag bearer, Mutebi Michael had sailed through as per the provisional results at the divisional electoral offices.
Police and its sister forces engaged the rioters.
The body was taken taken to city mortuary for postmortem.
