Bizonto Granted Bail, Survives to Feed on ‘Kawukuumi’

The four radio Simba presenters commonly known by their stage name “Bizonto Comedy” have been released on Bail following their arrest early in the day.
The four in question is Julius Sserwanja (Ssabazonto), Gold Kimatono (Jajja Zonto), Mercel Mbabaali (Giant Zonto) and Simon Peter Ssabakaaki (Young Zonto) but the later wasn’t arrested in the morning, he joined the team in Court at Buganda road.
Bizonto denied the charges pressed against them of promoting sectarianism through their skits.
After denying the charges, the four applied for a bail by presenting their sureties to act as guarantee proving that they’ll honor court bail when released.
In response, the magistrate released them on shs.100,000 bail and are to report back to court on 8th. April this year.
After being set free, the Bizonto explained how it started in the morning when the Police arrested them from Radio Simba in Bukoto.
“The police patrol picked us from station, they first block the road before loading us on their speedy patrol, they said that they are charging us because of skipping our bond but to our surprise when we reached here (Court), they read us a sectarianism charges, the old case.” Julius Sserwanja told media before adding. “But we know who is behind this, he is a pastor, he warned us on Wednesday that they are going to arrest us and indeed it has happened, that pastor is very tricky, that has great power, Mister we thank you, you showed us your authority but we are also bringing.”
It should be remembered that these comedians were arrested for publishing a video clip in July 2020 that authorities termed it as promoting Sectarianism and they were arrested for a number days in Kireka.
