UGANDAN DANCEHALL ARTISTE MASTER PARROT DIES IN TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENT

The Ugandan music industry is mourning the untimely death of veteran dancehall artiste David Sifaayo, popularly known as Master Parrot, who reportedly died following a tragic road accident along the Northern Bypass in Kampala.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred on the night of June 1, 2026, in the Masanafu area when the singer was allegedly knocked by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the busy highway.
Police officers later transported his body to Mulago National Referral Hospital as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash continued. By press time, authorities had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident, and funeral arrangements had not been announced.
Master Parrot was widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Uganda’s dancehall and ragga music scene. During the peak of his career, he became a household name through several popular songs, including his well-known hit “Muliro.” He was also among the founding members of the influential Firebase Crew led by musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine.
Over the years, Master Parrot earned admiration for his energetic performances and contribution to the growth of urban music in Uganda. His music blended dancehall rhythms with socially conscious and inspirational messages, making him a respected figure in the local entertainment industry.
Reports indicate that in recent years, the artiste had been battling alcohol addiction and mental health challenges, struggles that were occasionally discussed publicly by close associates and fans concerned about his wellbeing.
Tributes from fellow musicians, fans, and entertainment stakeholders have continued to pour in on social media, with many remembering Master Parrot as a talented performer who played a significant role in shaping Uganda’s dancehall culture.
His death marks yet another loss to Uganda’s entertainment fraternity.
