Airtel FUFA Awards 2021: Lady Doves Duo Among the Five In Contest for Best Female Player

The sixth edition of Airtel FUFA Awards have been officially launched at Stonehaven Restaurant- Kololo on Thursday morning.

The 2021 FUFA Women’s Super League Champions and Uganda’s representatives on continent Qualifiers, Lady Doves have two players on the list of five contesting for the 2021 Airtel FUFA Women best footballer of the year.

The performance the two; custodian and skipper Daisy Nakaziro and goal poacher Fazila Ikwaput couldn’t left the coaches and captains of Super and Elite League clubs stable before nominating them among the best of the year.

Fazila Ikwaput was the Most Valuable Player, 2021 FUFA Women’s Super League tourney held at Njeru Technical Center and was a key pillar in Lady Doves FC performance in CECAFA CAF zonal qualifiers where the latter finished third with a USD10,000 prize money.

Daisy Nakaziro, undoubtedly been and still the best custodian currently in Uganda and CECAFA region.

The other nominees include; Kawempe Muslim Ladies talented winger Margret Kunihira, despite her club not winning any silverware in just concluded competitions, Margret has been a pillar in U20 Women’s National team, their front three of her, Fauzia Najjemba, and Juliet Nalukenge has been amazing and the most talked about trio in Ugandan football.

Fauzia Najjemba, the Kampala Queens forward and Joan Naggayi of She Maroons, she helped the side to qualify to Super League and she was the MVP of Elite League 2021.

The winners will be awarded on 04th December 2021 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The awards remained the same only we removed the Junior League best player category since we didn’t have the activities. We have added the futsal player, we are going to have 13 categories, we have launched today then, the next step is to reveal how Ugandans will be voting their Best of the year.” Rogers Mulindwa said.
