Covid Relief: Steven Ssembuya Extends Support to Boxers, Journalists as Uhuru Cries Out to Gov’t

The boss of Zzana Boxing Club, Steven Ssembuya extended food support to boxers and sports Journalists as Kampala Central Mayor, Salim Uhuru Cry to government to also consider sports men and women in this tough lockdown.

Ssembuya who gave out over 250 bags of maize floor in measurements of five kilograms to both professional boxers and amateurs plus journalists that cover sports news, called upon other Ugandans who have good heart to also extend hand to these boxers who were hit by both waves of COVID-19.

Boxing as a sport brings many youths from wrong doings and they become important citizens in their countries. The likes of Mike Tyson, Anthony Joshua, these were street kids but now they are multimillionaires, now here if we handle these youths well and give them support, they can’t go into wrong acts.” Steven Ssembuya said while addressing media at Uganda Professional Boxing Commission offices in Kampala on Tuesday.

I am not a president of any boxing federation, I have come out as a person to extend support, so even others can do the same such that they also feel that we care about them.” 

Salimu Uhuru the mayor kampala central and the president of Uganda professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) while receiving food relief for all boxers from Steven Ssembuya the Chairman of Zanna Boxing Club(ZBC) at his offices in Kampala said that boxers and other sports personalities are facing alot of challenges mostly when sports activities are closed so they need support.

Uhuru adds that government recently announced people to be supported but sports people were not put on the list yet they also suffering. so he asked government and people with good heart to come on board and help.

I thank Ssembuya for the good heart, it’s doesn’t mean that he has much but he cares.” Said Uhuru before adding. “I asked for a meeting with the president in the first lockdown, but other people in boxing circles fought it, but I continued to lobby for boxers and soon we shall get something, I will be informing you. But again I call upon government to mind about boxers because they are also vulnerable.
