Women Football: Uganda Martyrs, Sparta 09 Share Spoils in Six Goal Thriller
In the build up Match held at Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga playground on Thursday, 08, April 2021, the hosts and Sparta 09 U15 Boys shared spoils in a six goal thriller.
Brenda Munyana and Anitah Namata scored for Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga Women football club, while impressive Moroga Mikidad and Trevor Kiyingi were on target for Sparta 09 U15.
In the free flowing game, Rogers Nkugwa coached side, Uganda Martyrs were very impressive in the first stanza. Only six minutes into the game, Brenda Munyana was put down in the area for the hosts to win a penalty though Gloria Namugerwa put it wide.
The side never seized in launching deadly attacks and at quarter past the game Brenda Munyana tapped in to give them a lead, thanks to Nakacwa Spenser’s penetrative pass from the edge of the big box.
As if it wasn’t enough for her, only four minutes after giving Martyrs a lead, Munyana bounced back with a spectacular header to complete her day’s brace. Thanks to Catherine Nagadya’s well calculated cross from right flank.
First stanza ended 2-0 in favor of the hosts.
The visitors had a number of good chances but Kaidu Sharon, Martyrs’ custodian had a marvelous performance in the first 45 minutes.
Ten minutes into second half, Trevor Kiyingi pulled one off for the visitors to make it 2-1 but super sub for Uganda Martyrs, Anitah Namata in the 69th minute converted from a spot kick to make it 3-1.
Moroga who has been an impressive player on the day scored the second for Sparta in the 72nd minute before he sealed it in the 90th minute to give a 3-3 final score.
Uganda Martyrs is in group one of FUFA Women’s Super League, 2021 season with Kawempe Muslim, Makerere University, Kampala Queens and Tooro Queens.
The Martyrs from Lubaga will kick off their journey to win the maiden Super League title on 19th April 2021 against Makerere University.
