Pepsi University Football League: Kampala University Names 30-Man Squad Ahead of Season Opener

The two-time Pepsi University Football League champions, Kampala University (KU), have officially unveiled their 30-man squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon at Ham Stadium, Nakivubo, during a ceremony presided over by the University’s Senior Sports Tutor and aspiring AUUS First Vice President, Martha Soigi. She urged the team to aim high and bring back the trophy last lifted in 2016.
This season’s squad has a fresh look, with nearly 15 new players drafted in to replace those sidelined by the latest competition rules. The University Sports governing body recently amended its regulations, barring players holding Masaza Cup licences from featuring in the league starting this season.
Among the new recruits are goalkeepers Wafula David and Al-haji Ahmed Najib, along with outfield additions such as Oyoit Felix, Opio John Mark, Epaja James, Wagoina Fahad, Mulooki Mubarak, Okia Abraham Junior, Kizito Adiru, Wasswa Martin Mulumba, Nuwandida Ivan, Kinyera Martin, Katula Eric, and Kirwana Abdul Karim.
The squad also retains several experienced names, including captain Mulamba Abbey, last season’s top scorer Wanume Gilbert, and assistant captain Nsubuga Benjamin.
Placed in Group A, KU will have to contend with defending champions Uganda Martyrs University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Mountains of the Moon University, University of Kisubi, and Kampala International University.
The Ggaba-based side begins its campaign on Thursday against holders Uganda Martyrs University at Ham Stadium, Nakivubo. Head coach Vincent Tumusiime, also known as Titi Kamara, continues to steer the technical bench.
