On Thursday at Piato Restaurant- Kampala, the impeached president of Uganda Medical Association (UMA) Doctor Samuel Oledo Odongo held a press conference to reply those who called extra ordinary general meeting to impeach him from being a president of the association.
On the third day of December this year at Kololo independence ground during the patriotism for youth and investment symposium, Doctor Samuel Oledo and a group of other ‘medical practitioners’ made statements and communications which didn’t go well with his subordinates.
In the following days, the other members called for a national executive committee meeting under which they passed resolutions to call for an extra ordinary general Assembly within 21 days to investigate the conduct of Doctor Oledo and in the Same resolution status, December they also appointed the vice president as the acting president of Uganda medical association.
The resolutions which they passed continued to disrupt him and did not settle down doctor Oledo with his lawyer, filed an application for judicial review in court saying that the decisions that were made by Uganda medical association needed to be reviewed that were improper and illegal.
Elvis Ssemuyaba lawyer to Oledo while addressing media revealed; “we served Uganda medical association on Friday last week and we informed them that Doctor Oledo had gone to court to find justice in regard to the decisions they had made.”
He added “the meetings that they were supposed to hold in the 21 days in order to impeach or suspend him (Oledo) or whatever, they can call it and then they should pull them back”.
Doctor Oledo Samuel says “I sound a warning to those intending to use opposition to come into Uganda medical association and fight It because the fountain of honour president Museveni is determined to work with Uganda medical association to improve the lives of the doctors , other health workers and also to improve the lives of other people in the country through improvement of the health sector
“Any individual who is expect to use the opposition to come and fight the Uganda medical association in the name of Dr. Samuel Oledo Odongo is inclined to the NRM we shall fight you and I give you my word I will fight you tooth and nail”.
In one of the statements Oledo made before the head of state, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, he asserted that UMA is in full support of the president even if he returns in 2026 as the president, which didn’t go well with other medical practitioners.
